BioWho are you? Превет, internet. I'm Stef. I'm 20, and I was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL but currently live in NYC. This journal is my means of keeping up with my friends and family when afar. My other LJ is friends-locked, so this one is my public journal.
What's this all about? This was originally my travelogue of my semester in Moscow, Russia. Yeah, not Moscow, Idaho or Moscow, Kansas -- the original one. I was there from September 1st through December 16th at Moscow University for the Humanities in their GRINT program through the School of Russian and Asian Studies. I'm hoping to graduate from CUNY Hunter in Spring 2009 with a double B.A. in both Geography and Russian and Slavic Studies. After that? Definitely grad school for an M.A. in Geography. After that?! Oh gosh, I don't know. But I might help to answer that in the next question!
Why Russian? Why NOT Russian?
No seriously, you're crazy. Yeah, I guess so, for having gone to Moscow in December. But, hey, the US State Department considers Russian a "critical need" language, meaning the government is begging for Americans to learn it. I've also been fascinated for quite a while with everything about Eastern Europe and Central Asia - such mysterious lands with so many languages and peoples!
What's the username mean?

"Wonderlust King" is a fantastic song by raucous gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello. "I travel the world, looking for understanding of the times that we live in. Hunting and gathering first hand information, challenging definitions of sin." If my must-see-the-world self keeps this journal going, I think it's a very appropriate homage!
And what's all this Israel nonsense? The summer after returning from Russia, I had the opportunity to embark on a free 10-day trip to Israel courtesy of Birthright Israel I'm half-Jewish, and that's from my dad's side, but apparently that was good enough for them!
How do you feel about Israel, politically? I don't really support either side in the Israel-Palestinian conflict because I feel that both sides have done so many wrongs by now that it's impossible to discern who is right, if either of them could be considered right at all anymore.
Are you religious? No. I don't believe in organized religion. Having been raised under the influence of Protestant Christianity, Catholicism, and of course, Judaism, I realized that a lot of religious laws are obsolete or were constructed by man. I won't get into a religious spiel here, but I'll just say that I definitely do believe in a higher power, and I sure do love me some shellfish.
